Dalí’s artwork inspired design
Salvador Dalí was an artist who intrigued me. I had read a lot about him. During my most active period as an architect I visited Port Lligat and Figueres. Back the I was reading the letters of Paul Eluard to Gala and other books about the stormy relationship between Gala and Dalí.
In January 2013 I came into close contact with Dalí’s work. I visited the retrospective of his work in Paris at the Pompidou Center. It was a cold January and Paris enjoyed an impressive snowfall that left all city without cars during one Sunday. The next morning, in a Montparnasse apartment I painted a picture on a travel notebook using crayons. Those were unconscious moments. In those squiggles, Dalí was dancing inside me. I titled it “Boc de París” and became one of the most famous and selling scarf of our collections.
Last summer, my visit to the Dalí Museum remembered me about Paris. It was a great discovery to visit the room where the Jewels designed by Dalí were shown. And there, finally I decided I should create a collection of silk scarves inspired by the eccentric Dalí’s jewelry.
